Mountain View

With Mount Mansfield framed by a beautiful mixed deciduous and pine forest, this site called for a naturalized landscape design which fit the site. The client had a love of plants and she adored every aspect of gardening. The overall concept of the design was to use meadow to create a transition area that blended into the existing forest. This meadow included lupine, daisy, aster, echinacea, and annual wildflowers that extend the bloom time throughout the summer. Site constraints included many springs within the upper slopes that needed to be addressed after the new home was built. The design included a perennial stream bed that collected storm water and spring water from the upper slopes with Bluestone slabs crossing the stream at key points for access and circulation within the site. Perennials, grasses, and small trees are planted along both sides for stabilization, wildlife and beauty.
